Bundaberg Region
WELCOME TO BUNDABERG!
There’s no better place to be in winter!
The football’s going to be great in Bundaberg…and so is the weather…the attractions…and the lifestyle. Bundaberg is known to have the most equable climate in the world – we invite you to come and join us for the Festival of Football and experience all we have to offer.
Enjoy beachcombing and dolphin spotting from the pristine shores of Bargara and the Coral Coast, just a short 15 minute drive from the Bundaberg city centre. You can also experience our own natural wonders at the Mon Repos Turtle Rookery, celebrating and preserving Australia’s most significant mainland turtle-nesting beach. Experience the majesty and uniqueness of the Great Barrier Reef in its finest form at our two coral cays of Lady Musgrave and Lady Elliot, or the Fitzroy Reef Lagoon and the magnificent fringing reefs of the Woongarra Marine Park right on the shoreline of the Coral Coast.
The waters of the Coral Coast are a proven ranquillit, fishing and diving paradise, and the local coastal townships ensure a great touring route to fully discover the Bundaberg region, from shining sea and beautiful reef, to mountain views and rural hinterland.
The Bundaberg region boasts a number of seaside villages, stretching from Buxton and Woodgate Beach in the south, through to Coral Cove, Innes Park, Elliott Heads, Bargara, Burnett Heads and Moore Park Beach up to Miara in the north. Stroll along sandy stretches of beach, enjoy safe swimming year round, or discover the peace and ranquillity of our beautiful seaside destinations.

Despite its amazing population growth and carefully managed suburban sprawl in all directions, the city retains a natural appeal and relaxed lifestyle that appeals to its residents and visitors. Just a few minutes stroll from the city centre you can enjoy the peace and ranquillity of Alexandra Park, and experience the breathtaking riverside development in the Bundaberg Regional Council’s ambitious Riverside Parklands project. And the kids will love the Lake Ellen Heritage Hub Adventure Playground.
A short distance away, in North Bundaberg, the Botanic Gardens feature winding lakeside boardwalks and natural boulevards, taking you through a variety of natural experiences and beautiful landscapes. These parklands proudly showcase Bundaberg’s amazing history, including the reconstructed original home of the city’s famous aviation pioneer, Bert Hinkler; and the multi-million dollar Hinkler Hall of Aviation, Australia’s newest tourist attraction and aviation adventure experience. You can even board a restored coal-fired steam train for a different view of the gardens, or take in the sights and experiences of the Bundaberg Historical Museum, the Fairymead House Sugar Museum or the nearby Bundaberg Railway Museum. ..and enjoy some of the city’s best coffee and snacks at Café 1928.
And, of course, a visit to the Bundaberg region would not be complete without a tour of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery and Bundaberg Brewed Drinks “Barrel” – you’ll see why both are Bundaberg icons and known and loved around the world.
While Bundaberg is the commercial and business capital of the region, there are a range of different experiences and opportunities awaiting you within a short distance. At the region’s southern gateway is the town of Childers, featuring the peaceful vibrancy of a busy provincial centre overlooking rolling hills of sugar, small crops and small industry.
The northern highway town of Gin Gin tells a fascinating historic tale with a genuine bush spirit, including the chance for freshwater fishing and weekend country escapes. Enjoy a relaxing drive through country towns, or take in the spectacular natural landscape that forms the Bundaberg region.
We look forward to welcoming you this winter for our Festival of Football. You can bring your winter coat…and your umbrella…but we doubt if you’ll need them! Instead, bring your camera, your swimmers and your sense of adventure!
